The Bloggess Gets a Book Deal

I’ve only just started reading The Bloggess, because her reputation for being outrageous preceded her and I thought I might find her blog not to my taste. Boy, was I WRONG. She’s completely hilarious, sometimes inappropriate, and very raw. (This post on her trip to Japan is one of the funniest things I’ve ever read.) (If you don’t like swearing though, stay away. Srsly.)

Anyway, the good news for those of us who are fans is that The Bloggess aka: Jenny Lawson has sold her first book, a “mostly true memoir” called Let’s Pretend This Never Happened, to be released in 2012.

Brown to write Downing Street Memoir… Sarah Brown, that is

“The wife of former Prime Minister Gordon Brown will tell readers “what it’s like to shop with Special Branch” and “cope with a bad hair day when Carla Bruni’s in town”, publishers Ebury said. Mrs Brown revealed the news to her million followers on micro-blogging site Twitter on Saturday: “Just agreed with my publisher Ebury to write a book - working title ‘Behind the Black Door’ - so chained to laptop from Monday morning.”

Via.

Not sure I’m dying to read this (shopping with special branch sounds interesting but bad hair days are a bit beneath such an accomplished woman, surely — don’t do that “I’m just a girl after all” schtick please, Sarah) but it’s certainly more appealing than Cherie Blair’s book… Will you be buying it?
